How skip-hop and the Virtual Skipping League collect, use and protect personal information, including pupils' data.

Who we are

skip-hop runs two websites: skip-hop.co.uk and the Virtual Skipping League at vsl.org.uk. They belong to the same business, so in this notice "we" means skip-hop, which is responsible for your data on both sites. skip-hop is run by Scott Robert-Shaw, trading as skip-hop, at 9 Larkspur Way, Dorking, Surrey RH5 4TS. Email: info@skip-hop.co.uk.

One account for both sites

One skip-hop account works on both websites. Register on either site and you can sign in to the other with the same email address and password.

That means you only enter your school's details once. Free resources and discounts for registered schools apply on both sites. When class sharing is switched on, a class you set up on one site is also there on the other: for example, Virtual Skipping League scores and Skipping Awards certificates can use the same class list.

You can close your account at any time, and it closes on both sites.

What we collect, why, and our lawful basis

Pupils' names

Full surnames never leave the school. When a teacher enters or imports a class, a script in their own browser shortens each surname to one or two letters before anything is saved. Full surnames are never sent to skip-hop, never stored on our systems, and never seen by anyone outside the school. Only that school's signed-in staff can see pupils' names; skip-hop staff see scores and totals only. League tables and anything public show school and class totals, never names.

We never publish children's names or school names alongside rhymes sent to us.

Emails from us

We send emails about your account, orders and membership; these are part of the service. We may also send news and offers from skip-hop and the Virtual Skipping League. You can opt out when you sign up, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

Who we share data with

We never sell your data. We use these service providers, who only act on our instructions:

If any provider moves data outside the UK, we make sure safeguards approved under UK law are in place.

How long we keep it

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict its use or move it elsewhere. Email info@skip-hop.co.uk. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Parents with a question about pupil data should contact their child's school first, because the school decides how that data is used.

Cookies

We don't use analytics or advertising cookies. We only use cookies and browser storage that are strictly necessary for the site to work: keeping you signed in, your basket and delivery voucher, and remembering whether you chose the Schools or Home & Clubs side of the site.

Changes

We may update this notice. The latest version will always be on this page. Last updated: 16 October 2026.
