Our coaches have taught skipping everywhere from nursery classes to secondary schools, special schools and secure units. That taught us to adapt every skill to every child, and that thinking is behind every page here. We also supply skipping ropes chosen and tested by people who teach skipping for a living.

The children in the skip-hop skills video are pupils from Moseley Primary School in Staffordshire, who went on to skip on CBBC’s Jump Nation. Read the Moseley story.

What skip-hop does for…
The people behind skip-hop

Lee Collinson-James
Lee has taught skipping in UK schools for more than 25 years, in primary schools in nearly every part of the country, and has trained skip-hop’s coaches and many teachers along the way. He has also worked extensively in special schools and secure units, which is where our approach of adapting every skill to every child comes from. The coaching notes for every skill on this site are his, and so is our advice on skipping for pupils with SEND.

Scott Robert-Shaw
Scott looks after the digital side of skip-hop. He builds the tools that put Lee’s 25 years of coaching in the hands of primary teachers, School Games Organisers and Active Partnerships, so they can promote, teach and track skipping in their schools.
What schools said about our workshops
Just a quick message to say a huge thank you for a fantastic day. Your coach was great. The kids and teachers thought he did a fantastic job and I just wanted to pass this message on.
These two days are probably the best two days of the school year.
Frequently asked questions
Who runs skip-hop?
skip-hop was founded by Lee Collinson-James, our lead coach, and Scott Robert-Shaw, who looks after the digital side. The coaching on the site is mainly Lee’s.
Do you still run skipping workshops for pupils?
No. After a quarter of a century of school workshops, we now train teachers instead, so skipping keeps going in your school long after the day itself.
What’s free?
Registering your school is free and gives 10% off skipping ropes and free lesson tasters. The Skipping Awards level chart is free for every school, and so is the Virtual Skipping League. The All-Access Skip Pass adds the full scheme of work, assessment tools, certificates and video for every skill, for £149 a year or £399 for 3 years.
Do teachers need to be able to skip?
No. Every lesson is written for class teachers, with teaching points, common faults and how to fix them.
Where are you based?
We’re based near Dorking in Surrey and run training days for schools across the UK. Travel is included within 50 miles.
Can schools pay by purchase order?
Yes. Schools can pay by card, or by invoice with a 30-day purchase order. skip-hop is not VAT registered, so the price shown is the price you pay.
Who are the children in your skills video?
Pupils from Moseley Primary School in Staffordshire, who went on to skip on CBBC’s Jump Nation. Read the Moseley story.
