  • “Teachers don’t feel confident delivering it.”A skip-hop training day for your schools, usually organised through your Active Partnership.
  • “Competition only reaches the school team.”The Skipping Awards give every child a goal, and the league puts whole classes in.
  • “Schools can’t get to events.”The Virtual Skipping League runs from each school’s own playground, with no travel.

How skipping helps your School Games work

Getting children moving is only the start. Here’s what the benefits of skipping mean for you.

It reaches the children you need to reachEvery child competes against their own best and works towards their own Award, so the least active have a reason to join in.
It works at every levelPersonal challenge through the Awards, intra-school through class challenges, and inter-school through league area challenges.
It builds young leadersOlder pupils turn long ropes, judge skills and run the timer for younger classes.
It suits every schoolOne rope each and a small space. Almost any skill can be adapted for pupils with SEND.

What school sport partnerships said

Just wanted to say a big thank you for yesterday, everyone really enjoyed the workshop. You got the delivery spot on with reference to impact on young people, benefits to schools and ensuring it was delivered at the right pace and fun for everyone. I haven’t laughed so much for ages - how sad!

We have held several skipping workshops in primary and secondary schools run by skip-hop. They are fantastic and I have had nothing but brilliant feedback from them. They can take large groups, they relate the activity to health and the curriculum, it’s fun, interactive and educational. I can’t recommend it enough.

Questions SGOs ask

Can skip-hop run a training day for my schools?

Yes. Most days are organised by an Active Partnership for a group of schools, but an SGO can organise one too. Email us with the number of schools and staff and we’ll plan it with you.

Is the Virtual Skipping League really free?

Yes, for every school and every SGO, with every feature included.

Do schools need to pay for skip-hop to take part?

No. Schools can register free, use the free lesson tasters and join the league. The All-Access Skip Pass adds the full scheme of work and the Awards assessment tools.
