Long rope, 7.5 mFor all the long rope gamesShop now →Our Double Dutch set is two 4.5 m ropes, sold as a pair, and each one works perfectly on its own as a long rope: one of them is just right for Under the Moon. The 7.5 m long rope is perfect for Wiggly Worm and for all of the long rope games. We suggest every school has at least one Double Dutch set and one 7.5 m long rope. Between them they give you everything you need for teaching, right the way from Reception to Year 6.
To pass the Green Award, a pupil:
- Skips 20 single bounces in a row
- Skips 10 running steps and hops 5 on each foot
- Skips 5 backwards in a row
- Skips 5 side straddles
- Runs into a long rope, jumps once and runs out (see the Figure of Eight long rope game)
A pupil passes when they show every skill with control, on two different days. Pupils aren't held back by their age: anyone who can show these skills can take the Green Award.

How to assess the Green Award
- Teach the skills on this page, along with the related skills, in PE, at a skipping club or at playtime.
- Watch each pupil show every skill with control, and tick it on the class tracker.
- Check the skills again on a different day. A pupil passes when every skill is shown with control on two different days.
- Award the certificate in assembly or at the end of the lesson, then show the pupil their next challenge.
